Heat & Turf Stress Index

Regional air heat. Atmospheric demand. A clearer reason to check the root zone.

Weather-based screening only—not measured turf stress, a property forecast, an irrigation prescription or a human heat-safety index.

Transparent screening rules

High: air temperature at least 95°F, or at least 85°F with vapor-pressure deficit at least 2 kPa. Elevated: at least 85°F or VPD at least 2 kPa. Otherwise: lower. Missing or invalid temperature or humidity: unavailable.

These are GroundWorx editorial screening thresholds, not validated universal turf limits. VPD is calculated from air temperature and relative humidity using the Tetens saturation-vapor-pressure equation. This is a current-condition screen, not a forecast.

Check before acting

Cool-season and warm-season turf respond differently. Regional air weather cannot reveal your soil moisture, root temperature, drainage or disease. A lower label does not prove healthy turf; a high label does not prove damage or a need to irrigate.
