Water Savings Incentive Program (WSIP)

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, administered by SoCal Water$mart · Southern California: six counties, 26 member agencies

This program pays for performance on custom non-residential water-efficiency projects, including irrigation improvements on golf courses and large landscapes.

Up to $0.60 per 1,000 gallons saved each year, for up to 10 years. Payments are capped at 50% of eligible project costs.

  • • The application must be approved before installation.
  • • The project must save at least 10 million gallons over its life.
  • • You need three years of water-use history to set a baseline.
  • • Part of the payment comes at installation, and the rest after one year of verified savings.
  • • Funding is limited and given first-come, first-served.

How it works

  1. 01Apply with GroundWorx's help
  2. 02Get pre-approval (required before installing)
  3. 03Install the GX-1 Network and GAIN
  4. 04Verify one year of savings

Don't install before approval. Projects installed early are not eligible.

This is an estimate only. Metropolitan sets the final amounts after reviewing the project and verifying measured savings. Funding is limited, and approval is not guaranteed.

These are for reference. Each district decides eligibility and amounts, and GroundWorx approval is confirmed only for Metropolitan's WSIP. We'll add more districts over time.
